Dwight Dively's Job Listing: A Metaphor
Looking up departing city finance director Dwight Dively's phone number yesterday when I was reporting today's story, I came across this weird entry in the city's departmental directory:
The department listing is funny, obviously—"ZZZ"?—but it also has a meaning:
It's a holding code for people being transferred within the city. Which is why I say it's a metaphor: Dively, who had overseen the annual budget process for 16 years, was officially reassigned to head up a new joint Department of Executive Administration and Fleets and Facilities by Mayor Mike McGinn two months ago. Since then, sources familiar with the transition say, the McGinn administration has had virtually no contact with Dively—one major reason, they say, that Dively decided to leave the city after 22 years.
