A Supreme Three-Fer

We will soon again have two women on the Supreme Court (someone please fucking knock on some wood) and guess what? It's a two-fer...because not only will we be moving toward some better gender balance on the court, but we'll also have the first Hispanic on the court. Some people, including yours truly, think it's about time. Three cheers for Sonia Sotomayor.
Did I say two-fer? I meant it's a three-fer. Because the Republicans are fucked (insert gleeful dancing here). Um, yeah...you go ahead and try and block the nomination of the candidate with the most bench experience ever (oh and did I mention the country's first Hispanic - how historic!) and see how many Latinos turn out for you come election day 2010. Do it! Please? You conservatives, build the movement to block her! Please push so hard, as you are well known to do, and get that Latino Democratic performance up towards the 80-90% range. Do to the Latino community what you have done so well to the African-American community—alienate them so hard that they never return to your party. We Democrats have been salivating at the notion for years. Make it a reality!
This is the Republican response to the announcement and their intent during the confirmation process: "The Republicans are going to strike a tone that's fair, that allows the vetting process to happen like it should, and that's in stark contrast to how the Democrats dealt with Judge Roberts when you look back a couple years ago."
Yeah, because we weren't justified in protesting such a fair, moderate judge who can do simple things like swear in a new President.
