T-Doug's Cantina Leña Might Reopen February 1

Cantina Leña in its short pre-shuttering interlude.
What a clusterfrick. Just a few weeks after opening a cantina at Fifth and Lenora, Tom Douglas and his team shut the whole thing down right before Christmas. Cantina Leña is a casual, cafeteria-style place, but the kitchen runs entirely on burning wood; its fancy exhaust system wasn't adequately processing the smoke. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Martin apartment building, so residents were less than thrilled with this malfunction.
The Douglas team considered moving Cantina Leña elsewhere, but over the weekend Douglas confirmed that "the plan is to stay where we are." The fire-burning pit that runs most of the kitchen will be replaced with a different piece of equipment, one that cooperates with the specially installed exhaust scrubber and hopefully lets tenants above breathe easier.
Leña is tentatively set to reopen February 1, but obviously that's subject to change.
