The New Top Chef Season Includes a Contestant from Seattle

Canlis and Noma alum Luke Kolpin packed his knives...and went to Houston.

Seattle's Luke Kolpin, in Bravo mode.

The new, Houston-set season of Top Chef kicks off on March 3. Like last time around, Seattle has notched a local chef in the lineup of 15 contestants.

Luke Kolpin has worked at Canlis and as a sous at Copenhagen’s famed Noma—some legit highs in a career that began at Seattle Central’s culinary program. Perhaps this explains his presence at a benefit dinner put on last year by Shota Nakajima, the show’s most recent Seattle contestant.

Speaking of Nakajima, the press release from Bravo says he—and his signature giggle—will resurface this season, after making it to the finale and winning “fan favorite” last year. Meanwhile, you can follow Kolpin on Instagram, though he's unlikely to divulge much, given Bravo's iron-clad NDAs. Just five more weeks until we can watch him engage with fajitas, queso, Tex-Mex, and the myriad fantastic food cultures that make up Houston.
