Poke Class at Trace
Poke: It’s delicious and relatively simple, but let’s be honest, the thought of making it at home seems a little daunting. But fear no more, because Trace’s Hawaii-born executive chef Steven Ariel will show students expert tricks on how to choose and prepare the perfect fish, and then pair it with the right ingredients for an ono bowl of poke. Participants will make their own bowls while sipping on beer, and additional poke varieties will be available as well. Class is held at Trace and begins at 6pm on Thursday; tickets cost $65.

Taste of Seattle Made Party
Seattle Made is taking over Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center to bring a plethora of samples from 50 different Seattle-based food and drink producers. Just about every type of delicacy will be represented—pasta, chocolate, kimchi, sausage, ice cream, beer, wine—so your appetite is guaranteed to be sated. Tickets, which cost $35, include seven alcohol pours and unlimited food. The feeding frenzy starts at 6pm Friday, so be sure to come hungry.

Harvest Party at Bottlehouse

Okay, so hard cider isn’t quite as cozy as warm and cinnamony apple cider, but it still feels plenty fall. To celebrate, Bottlehouse is hosting a cider tasting, complete with fall food specials and live folk music from 4–7pm. Locally based Finnriver will definitely be the belle of the ball—be sure to look out for their Apple Abbey and Farmstead ciders. Pre-purchased tickets are $18 ($20 at the door) and grant you six pours of the good stuff.

Aloha Y'all: All Are Welcome

Korean, Hawaiian, and Southern food aren’t exactly an iconic trio, but Aloha Y’all is fighting that notion with a series of popups that combine comfort food from the three cultures. Established in 2016, this year’s lineup of events all benefit nonprofit organizations. Case in point: Sales from Saturday’s dinner will be donated to the ACLU. The evening kicks off at 7pm with dishes like luau grits, poke, and chicken katsu with waffles. Tickets are $75 and should be purchased ahead of time, y’all.

Hurricane Relief Fund at La Isla
Ballard's La Isla, which serves up traditional Puerto Rican fare and rum-soaked cocktails, will be hosting an event on Sunday for the benefit of the victims of Hurricane Maria. Diners can order off the menu or partake in the special plate, which will have lechon asado (grilled pork), arroz con gandules (rice with ham and pigeon peas), and a choice of tostones or maduros (fried plantains). The plates are $30 and will be available from noon to 10pm.

Oyster Shucking Class at Scout
School’s back in session, and so are cooking classes at the Chef’s Counter at Scout. The fall semester kicks off with an oyster shucking class taught by the shucking team at Josh Henderson’s Westward. Students will watch demos and then take a crack at opening six oysters of their own while sipping on drinks. Grab a complimentary oyster knife if you’re itching to do your homework and keep shucking at home. The class starts at 7pm on Monday, and individual tickets cost about $82. If you want to tackle multiple subjects, a four class pass rings in at about $264.

Eat Your Heart Out Dinner
Tom Douglas, Renee Erickson, Edouardo Jordan, and just about every other famous chef in Seattle will join together to host a multi-course dinner for the benefit of Direct Relief, an organization that provides medical resources to people in emergency situations, like those affected by the earthquake in Oaxaca. The sit-down dinner calls for a $300 minimum donation and begins at 6:30pm. If $300 isn’t quite in your budget, you can still help the cause with a $30 donation, which grants access to light bites, a drink, and a karaoke dance party at 7:30pm! Make your donation now to reserve a spot at the table or on the dance floor.
