This Week in Restaurant News: Dick's Drives Into Kent and Ballard Breweries Expand

Plus, long-awaited Jupiter Bar opens in Belltown.

Last week, longtime favorite Dick's Drive-In announced that its next location will open in Kent in the fall of 2018.


Chef Deborah Taylor’s upscale Port Townsend restaurant Finistère opened its doors to diners last week, reports Eater Seattle. Get excited for seafood and produce from local farms, which form the backbone of the menu. Also in the works: brunch and a culinary garden.

Jupiter Bar
After a 17-month wait, Jupiter welcomed the masses at yesterday’s grand opening. Owners Joey Nix and Jeff Rogers unveiled the space, which boasts two bars, a full kitchen, an arcade hall, and a pool table. And if you need a culture fix at happy hour, Jupiter has your back—on display are works from 18 different artists, including 12 large-scale murals.

Itto's Moroccan Tapas
In the place of bygone pizzeria Toscana is Itto’s Moroccan Tapas, says Capitol Hill Seattle. Originally from West Seattle, Itto’s boasts classic Moroccan cuisine, such as lamb and rotating tagines, as well as a plethora of wine.

Full Tilt
Beloved ice cream shop Full Tilt will ring in the new year with a new location in Capitol Hill. Located at 328 15th Avenue East—previously home to a Starbucks—Full Tilt’s fifth location will have soft serve, an ice cream bar counter, beer on tap, pinball, an outdoor patio, and all your favorite flavors.

Dick's Drive-In
After 170,000 people weighed in online to help pick Dick’s next location, the burger restaurant has finally announced that Kent’s Midway Shopping Center will be its new home, says Eater Seattle. Get ready for a mountain of burgers and fries.

A Pizza Mart
Capitol Hill Seattle reports that the pizza chain is growing its empire, this time setting up shop in the Modera building along 11th Avenue. As of now, A Pizza Mart has yet to announce its opening date.

East Trading Company
After Sun Liquor Distillery and Bar moved production up to the U District, I-Miun Liu, owner of Oasis Tea Zone and Eastern Cafe, snatched up the open space on Pike, as per Capitol Hill Times. Sometime in the next few months, Liu will bring Asian food and cocktails to the Hill with his new restaurant, East Trading Company.

Ballard Brouhaha

Populuxe Brewing
Beer snobs rejoice! Ballard’s Populuxe Brewing is in the final stages of its expansion, the new space boasting a whopping 4,000 square feet, reports Eater Seattle. All the extra elbow room also means a small arcade and a new seven-barrel brewhouse. 

Reuben's Brews
Not far from Populuxe Brewing, this neighboring brewery also has expansion plans in the works, according to My Ballard, though it's a ways down the road. But here, now: a special Reuben's Oktoberfest brew is coming weekend.


Nana's Restaurant
Queen Anne View reports that Mexican restaurant Nana’s has closed its doors, following in the footsteps of Emmer and Rye and Julia’s, both of which occupied the same spot along Queen Anne Avenue North.
