Little Fish and Colectivo Felix Popup
Make room for local seafood and end-of-summer dishes, because globetrotter chef Diego Felix is teaming up with Zoi Antonitsas from the forthcoming Little Fish for a popup dinner on Wednesday. The evening starts off at 6pm with octopus croquetas and mushroom pepper escabeche before moving onto a sit-down dinner featuring smelt crudo, summer squash salad, fig leaf wrapped king salmon, and a stone fruit tart. The popup will be hosted at Mallet and tickets are on sale for $100. Get them now before Felix jets off to another corner of the globe!

Barbecue and Bourbon Night for the Houston Food Bank
In a combination of finger-licking goodness and humanitarianism, Jack’s BBQ will partner with 2bar Spirits to raise money for the Houston Food Bank in an effort to help Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey. The evening kicks off at Jack’s at 5pm with a menu that includes comfort food our Southern neighbors would be proud of: ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and fixins. And thanks to 2bar’s Nathan Kaiser, spirits, beer, and wine will also be in ample supply. Tickets to the event cost $35, and all proceeds from ticket sales and a raffle will be donated to the Houston Food Bank. That’s nothing to sneeze at, y’all.

Fremont Oktoberfest 2017

We have officially entered Oktoberfest season, and Fremont’s throwing one of the biggest, sudsiest party in the state with a three-day event of beer, live music, and bratwursts. You can skip the gym thanks to stein hoisting competitions on Friday and Saturday, or you can don traditional German garb and yodel in the Miss Buxom Contest. The fest will have everything from microbrews to traditional German bier, over 80 beers all together. Friday and Saturday are strictly 21-plus, but Sunday is a kid's bonanza with pumpkin decorating, root beer tasting, and a zucchini race track. Tickets range from $20 to $50.

Festa Italiana
Get transported to Rome via a massive Italian festival at Seattle Center. Celebrating its 30th year, Festa Italiana has a boatload of Italian food and wine, cooking demos by chef Rossella Rago, puppetry for kids, a pizza toss, puppy parades, and a slew of musical performances. The event kicks off Friday at 7pm with the Taste of Italy, during which visitors can stroll through the Armory while tasting over 70 wines. The festival will be in full swing Saturday and Sunday, offering Italian sodas, pizza, and meatball sandwiches. Luckily you can work off all those calories in the grape stomping competition or the bocce tournament. Friday’s reception requires a ticket, but Saturday and Sunday’s activities are open to the public and run from 10–7pm.

Charcuterie with Chef Bridget Charters
Cooking class often brings to mind pasta, pizza, and other easy-to-make favorites, but not today. Instead, chef Bridget Charters will show you how to hang, cure, smoke, and dry-age meat so you can wow friends with truly housemade charcuterie. Charters will demonstrate how to make pancetta and smoked bacon and will also serve up spaghetti carbonara, which features—you guessed it—that very same pancetta. The class runs from 6–8pm, and be sure to sign up ahead of time to ensure that you have a very meaty Monday.

Nathan Myhrvold: Modernist Bread
Once the CEO of Intellectual Ventures, Nathan Myhrvold has since become a chef and authored Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking. Now Myhrvold’s releasing his second book, Modernist Bread, in which he delves into the long history of our all-time favorite carb. Come October 26, Myhrvold will unveil game-changing ingredients, techniques, and recipes as part of Town Hall’s fall slate of programs. The event takes place at the Egyptian Theater, and tickets are just $5—as much as an expertly baked torpedo of baguette.
