If you were anywhere near Downtown yesterday, you may have spotted a gaggle of pikachus or kids in superhero costumes, hell, adults in superhero costumes. Yes, Emerald City Comicon (ECCC) kicked off yesterday at the Washington State Convention Center, which will house Sci-Fi celebrities, writers panels, cosplay contests, and more through the weekend.
And what better way to honor the costume-clad con-goers than with ice cream? Full Tilt has created a special flavor, namely Emerald City Comicone—we see what you did there. It’s green, as is the hallmark color for ECCC, and it stirs in the tiny, fruity candies known as, but of course, Nerds. Well played, Full Tilt.
Meanwhile at Central District Ice Cream, a dessert collaboration has unfolded. One of its new March flavors includes a cold treat collaboration with Hood Famous Bakeshop, which churns their beloved purple, ube cheesecake into a scoopable ice cream. Get it by said scoop, or snag it by the pint for at-home, nonjudgmental consumption. You can even get it in ice cream sandwich form at Hood Famous Bakeshop in Ballard. Here the ube cheesecake ice cream is gently smooshed between housemade ube cookies.
