This Week in Restaurant News: Fried Chicken and Little Big Burger

First stop: Greenlake. Photo via Little Big Burger's Facebook page.
Open
Passatempo Taverna
Mike Easton and Jim German joined forces in Walla Walla. The result: rustic Italian food and damn fine cocktails.
No Anchor
Belltown's new beer bar comes courtesy of Rob Roy owner Anu Apte-Elford and husband/barman/beer scholar Chris Elford. Parse the beer list with Elford's handy infographic, or just order what you like with a side of fried hen of the woods mushrooms.
Asadero Sinaloa
Kent's Mexican-style steak house has a new Ballard outpost in the old Zayda Buddy's location, says Eater Seattle.
Coming Soon
Cook/Weaver
In one fell swoop, Capitol Hill Seattle blog tells us what's next for the Loveless Building (formerly home to Restaurant Marron and Olivar) and the whereabouts of Zac Reynolds, the guy behind the Central District's popular Food at Cortona popup. Their destinies are one and the same—Reynolds and partner Nile Klein will open Cook/Weaver here among the famed Pushkin-inspired murals, serving "inauthentic Eurasian" dishes like broccoli casserole made with Cheetohs by the end of the year.
Wanderfish Poke
Capitol Hill Seattle blog reports on Seattle's first-ever poke shop. J/k, this is what...the 15th destination for raw fish salad that's announced itself this year? But Wanderfish, coming next month to Pine and Broadway, focuses on sustainable seafood. The business is already scouting a second location downtown (Seattle Met could use some poke near the office; just sayin').
Galerie 23
Thierry Rautureau protege Rob Sevcik is striking out on his own, with ambitious plans, a potential space on Capitol Hill, and a need for some cash. Once he raises it, he's going all in on tasting menus that respect dietary needs and individual preferences, and French cuisine with a side of whatever he feels like.
Closings
Blind Pig Bistro
Arrrgh, nooooo. Charles Walpole and Rene Gutierrez will close their ingenious little Eastlake restaurant in November. Next door bar Babirusa remains.
Expansion Mode
Little Big Burger in Greenlake
Seattle Greenlaker IDs the first Seattle location for Portland chainlet Little Big Burger. The LBB peeps say two more spaces are nearly finalized.
Ezell's in Wallingford
Eater Seattle says Seattle's homegrown chicken shack has a new location open at 45th and Corliss.
Bar Matters
The Sovereign
Next week Pioneer Square gets a new subterranean bar, says Eater Seattle. The Sovereign is kin to the Forge Lounge. Ooh, there's a trio of marmites on the menu.
Dustin Haarstad at Naka
Shota Nakajima's Capitol Hill kaiseki restaurant is upping its bar game, bringing in Canon veteran Dustin Haarstad to make sure the cocktails are as polished as the food. There's hand-carved ice afoot.
Tommy Stearns at Rumba
Speaking of talented barkeeps, it's a damn shame we won't see Jim Romdall behind the bar at Capitol Hill's rum playground, but if there were ever a guy capable of picking up where Romdall leaves off as bar manager, it's Tommy Stearns, who has worked at the likes of Canon and Suite 410. By sheer coincidence (or no coincidence at all) he's also married to Rumba's GM Kate Perry.
Market Matters
New Seasons Mercer Island
The Portland-based grocer opens its doors November 10 at 2755 77th Ave. S.E. on Mercer Island.
