Go to a Seattle Restaurant, Feed the Hungry

Meatballs at Branzino
Jonathan Kumar was on food stamps as a kid. By the time he could afford a $12 restaurant burger, he didn’t feel great about that, either.
The result is FoodCircles, Kumar’s Seattle-based startup whose free app enables diners in participating restaurants to donate to the hungry. Here’s how: Before you dine out, go to FoodCircles’ app or website and check out which restaurants are participating—in Seattle these so far include really good ones: John Howie’s Sport, La Bodega in Pioneer Square, Branzino in Belltown, and soon Jack’s BBQ in SoDo. Choose among each restaurants’ specially designated dishes; order by smartphone, cell phone, or email; receive your phone or email voucher for the dish and present it when you go to the restaurant. At redemption, every $2 spent via the app feeds one hungry man, woman, or child through Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission.
Find out more and sign up for the app at FoodCircles—then feel great about the fact that money you’re spending anyway will fill more than one hungry stomach.
