The reason for the season.

This South Lake Union restaurant is going all-out for its fourth annual derby day extravaganza. After a complimentary brunch at 10, guests will be shuttled to Emerald Downs in Auburn to watch the derby simulcast. Then they'll be taken back to Re:Public to enjoy a live DJ, a photo booth, and prizes for best ensembles. Derby dress code will be in effect, and needless to say, the mint juleps will flow freely all day long. Email [email protected] to order $50 tickets.

The Gerald

Party like a Mad man at this Ballard cocktail bar, which will be serving up brunch and drink specials while guests watch the race (it happens from 1 to 4) on a 120-inch projector screen. The food tends toward midcentury classics, including a refreshingly straightforward benedict. Fancy hats are not required, but highly encouraged.

Daniel's Broiler
Eastside derby fans can head to this classic steakhouse, which will be partnering with Woodford Reserve to serve up Kentucky-inspired food and drink from 1 to 4. Be careful to not get any bourbon glaze on your finery, though—they'll be giving out awards for best dressed, best-dressed couple, and best bonnet. Call 425-990-6310 to make reservations for $65.

SPORT Restaurant and Bar
Betting will be the order of the day at this Belltown sports bar, where guests will be invited to place a raffle ticket on a chosen horse for the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to SPORT and Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar. Gift certificates will also be awarded for the funniest and best-decorated hats. The event is sponsored by app companies Gratafy and Flywheel, and guests will receive their first mint julep free. Festivities run 1 to 4.

Bottleneck Lounge
Never one to miss a drinking-oriented holiday this Madison Valley bar is teaming up with Maker’s Mark for its seventh annual Run for the Roses party. Doors will open at 2, followed by a traditional singing of “My Old Kentucky Home” before post time. After the race, the stasff will present prizes for best hat and best dressed. There will be no cover charge, and reservations are not required.
