Greenwood has become a popular destination this past year for bar openings. No, seriously. Some are familiar reiterations of fellow bars and others are brand spanking new concepts. Pretty much barhopping in Greenwood just got a little more fun—no offense to the Crosswalk or Ed’s Kort Haus, but it was about time.

Alibi Room
Co-owner Corey Ramey says the pet name for his new bar is the Greenwood Alibi. It’s the same vibe as the Pike Place original with old brick walls and exposed wood beams, but this spot is much more of a neighborhood hang out than its speakeasy sister bar at the Market. The space opened on July 24 in the old Snoose Junction location, and it has interesting refurbished parts like pieces of a gym floor from Garfield High School and old bowling alley lane planks. The menu is the same as the Pike Place location with wood-fired pizza, antipasti share plates, and crafty cocktails.

The Angry Beaver
If you’re a fan of How I Met Your Mother (but seriously just get to the meeting of the mother already!) this bar might remind you of that episode where Marshall takes Robin to a hockey-loving bar expressly for natives of Minnesota. But at the Angry Beaver, everyone is welcome. The hockey bar has Kokanee on tap and serves poutine in honor of its Canadian roots, but also many craft beers. Just don’t say anything about not liking hockey. Or the Canucks. Or probably beavers.

House Sports Pub
Need another good spot for your eight-man fantasy football league to meet up and drink? Or maybe you hope to see scenes of The League play out in real life, though let's hope that never actually happens. Well, here’s another one for all y’all sports fans. With a nine-foot HD screen and a bunch of TVs tuned to the latest NFL and NCAA football games and 18 tap handles, you could say, yes, this bar is ready for this highly anticipated Seahawks season. Tuesdays mean tacos and free poker, and Thursday is trivia night.

Teachers Lounge
It’s back to school time, which is good news for most adults, except maybe teachers who love having summer off to drink at this lounge in Greenwood. The cleverly named cocktails and equation-style pricing alone makes this place worth a visit. For example, A + B = $8 for a “Fizzy Lifting Drink” with sparkling wine, applejack, celery bitters, and agave. There are also grown up takes on the elementary school lunch items like a “baloney” sandwich, but with mortadella and Dijon.

Naked City Brewery’s Walrus Beer Garden
The taproom has long been a popular spot off Greenwood for its vast selection on local brews. This past June, Naked City welcomed an outdoor patio dubbed the Walrus Beer Garden, named in spirit of the old Walrus Blues Tavern that burned down many decades ago. The spot is all ages with picnic table seating and a cornhole-like game called washers, all overseen by a mural of two walruses enjoying a pint.
