K Vintners Gets Saved by the Bell

A celebrity wedding, a swimming pool, Washington wine, and TV cameras... what could possibly go wrong?

By Julie H. Case December 6, 2012

Extra, Extra! Washington wine has gone Hollywood. According to the people at Charles Smith Wines, Extra! host (and Saved by the Bell alum) Mario Lopez served a lot of the state juice at his wedding last Saturday, in Punta Mita, Mexico. Featured were eight different wines from the Charles Smith family wines, which includes the Charles & Charles, Charles Smith Wines, K Vintners, Secco, and ViNO brands.

On the menu were Secco bubbles and the Charles Smith Family 2011 ViNO pinot grigio; lobster ravioli and K Vintners 2011 viognier; osso bucco and K Vintners 2009 Stoneridge Vineyard cabernet sauvignon; cake and Kung Fu Girl. Of course, given that neither Smith nor Lopez miss a chance in the limelight, the whole wedding—and associated pairings—will be featured in the two-hour Mario & Courtney’s Wedding Fiesta on TLC this Saturday, December 8 (here’s a drinking game: take swig of Kung Fu Girl every time a Charles Smith wine appears on screen), and quite possibly on The Cake Boss in the near future. Because it’s not enough to have one TV show dedicated to your nuptials.

Lopez is said to have discovered Smith through a mutual friend who is a Hollywood agent. Yes, all 26 cases of wine for the wedding were provided by Charles Smith—the man does, after all, know a bit about marketing.

Thanks to the wine and a lot of free flowing tequila, apparently all the guests ended up in the swimming pool.
