Restaurant Shifts and Shakeups

This week: Whole Foods expands to West Seattle, Top Pot expands to Renton, and 35th Street Bistro closes to pave way for Maria Hines's Agrodolce.

314 Pie
The food truck of Casey Cooper and Deke Kotrla is now serving SLU on Thursdays 11–2. The duo also plans to bring their Aussie-style meat pies to the new pod at Second and Pike on Wednesdays, and is on the lookout for other locations as well.

Schooner Exact Brewpub
Earlier this week local brewery Schooner Exact converted a former storage and production space into a dining room serving lunch and dinner. Sandwiches, salads, cured meats, and other snack-sized plates make up the menu of chef Warren Peterson, formerly of Tom Douglas Restaurants. Of course, the full range of Schooner Exact beers is available. 

Calozzi's: Georgetown
After starting out as a food cart in Belltown more than five years ago, Al Calozzi just opened his second brick-and-mortar, according to Facebook. Unlike the original Pioneer Square shop, the Georgetown location will only serve cheesesteaks and other sandwiches—no pizza. 


Kukai Ramen and Izakaya
A popular Japanese ramen chain will open its first stateside location in Bellevue in late November or early December, reports Seattle Weekly. The Kukai franchise has been praised by the press for its tonkotsu gyokai broth and chilled tsukemen. 

Whole Foods Market: West Seattle
The natural and organic food store is opening its seventh Puget Sound location at Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Alaska Street. The store is part of a mixed-use project and is slated for 2015. 

Top Pot Doughnuts: The Landing in Renton
The doughtnut empire is heading south for its new cafe at the Landing in Renton, set to open around Black Friday. This will be the southernmost storefront yet and will feature the standard menu of doughnuts, bars, fritters, and espresso drinks. Plans to incorporate ice cream and a baking facility is in the works for 2013. 


How Pickle Got Out of a Jam
Vanessa Goldberg and James Kennicott are turning to Kickstarter in hopes of raising $13,500 to get their food truck rolling by the end of the year.

Meander's Kitchen
Now that the new White Center location is up and running, the Meander's in West Seattle is closed. According to a Facebook post, the diner was supposed to stay open through December but management has decided to focus their attention on White Center.  


35th Street Bistro
Owners Mason and Michelle Citarello have announced that 35th Street Bistro will close its doors on November 29. The duo has operated the neighborhood institution since 2009, when they took it over from Bob Day. The closing makes way for Maria Hines's third restaurant, Agrodolce
