Tonight man-about-the-Hill Marcus Lalario officially opens his new sports bar, 95 Slide, in the 722 E Pike space that used to be HG Lodge. The name, a reference to Ken Griffey, Jr.’s iconic slide into home plate that clinched the M’s victory over the Yankees in the 1995 American League Divisional Series, should be your first clue that Lalario takes his Seattle sports seriously (also: the bobbleheads).

“I want to capture how excited you were to be a Seattleite and a sports fan at that time,” he said this morning, hurrying to get to his dad’s house in time for the Euro Cup Italy-Germany matchup.

The bar seats more than 100 people, and boasts 20 55-inch televisions, as well as a handful of booths with their own TVs. Lalario says you can even reserve these. “You can have your own remote; you can flip the channels, and do whatever you want to do.”

The kitchen will produce classic sports bar food, like burgers, sandwiches, and satisfyingly fried appetizers, but with carefully sourced, natural-leaning ingredients. If the burgers, fries, and onion rings at Lalario’s nearby burger joint Li’l Woody’s are any indication, the food will lure athletic supporters and apathetics alike.

95 Slide has 12 taps, says Lalario, 10 dispensing craft beer, “and two of which I wouldn’t consider good beer, but they’re the beers I drink.” The building’s roof deck was a big draw in the HG Lodge days, but now Lalario will be serving food up there—it will open for lunch.
