Also: a fish and chips counter.

The Seattle Great Wheel, the waterfront attraction that has Seattleites going bonkers with excitement, is due to open June 29 (not 28th, as previously reported). And when it does, riders will find new dining options at the Pier 57 base.

According to a rep affiliated with the Ferris wheel, a food court will take over the third floor above Fisherman’s Restaurant. Four new eateries are slated to open at the end of the month: A taqueria (name TBD), Yukon Jack’s BBQ, and Sourdough Pizza Co., "with homemade sourdough crust made onsite at our Alaskan Sourdough Bakery," says Adriana Pinegar.

And that’s not all. "We will also have a fast food fish and chips counter upstairs, similar to the Salmon Cooker, which is already open on our street side."

Great Western Pacific, the company that operates the pier, is opening the food court, says Pinegar, GWP’s communications director. Back in the ‘90s the space housed a similar setup including—a bit of trivia here—the first Taco Del Mar. It’s basically sat empty until now.
