The virtual shop continues the erstwhile restaurant’s retail wine program.

Seven months after selling her longtime restaurant Madison Park Cafe, Karen Binder is back in the biz. And this time, it’s virtual.

Binder dropped me a note to say that her online wine shop, Binder’s Bottles, is up and running. Her enterprise, she writes, “is not a bricks-and-mortar venue, just a virtual place where my old (and new) customers can ask me for anything they’ve tasted or seen in a shop and want me to find for them.”

After the Cafe closed in August, Binder spent some time in Hawaii reveling in being a grandmother; she also applied for a retail wine license, a process that involved hanging her application on the front door of her house. The longtime restaurateur began studying wine about 15 years ago and sold retail bottles (“very value-driven, mostly French”) at Madison Park Café a few years back.

Binder has already filled a few orders and is still wading into the social media fray, but you can find Binder’s Bottles on Facebook.
