Neighborhood Food News: Another Mod Pizza, LloydMartin Opens on Queen Anne

Plus: A new Japanese sweets shop, another La Casa Azul, and more.

Erstwhile Queen Anne wine bar Bricco now is home to Sam Crannell’s LloydMartin.

CAPITOL HILL
Come November 1 Jeffrey Wilson assumes sole ownership of Broadway’s Table 219. Wilson, the restaurant’s executive chef, bought out business partners Gary Snyder and Stacey Hettinger, and while he doesn’t plan to alter the menu, Wilson will make slight cosmetic changes and institute a new name: Americana.

CENTRAL DISTRICT
From Central District News we hear of Umai-Do, a Japanese sweets shop softly open now. Grab a cup of tea with your mochi between 9 and 6 Monday through Saturday or from 9–4 on Sunday.

DOWNTOWN
Marché, the Campagne reboot, officially opens tonight with a party starting at 4:30. Swing by for appetizers and sabered bottles of cremant. The regular menu also will be on offer.

FREMONT
As part of a four-day stint in Seattle Oran Hesterman, author of Fair Food: Growing a Healthy, Sustainable Food System for All and CEO of Fair Food Network, is scheduled to speak at the Book Larder on October 18 at 6:30. Joining him is Edible Seattle’s Jill Lightner.

LYNNWOOD
On October 8 local mini-chain Mod Pizza opens a fifth kitchen in the Northpointe Retail Center at 2902 164th Street SW. This is the first Mod outside the Seattle-Bellevue market.

QUEEN ANNE
Amid this week’s flurry of restaurant openings comes word LloydMartin is now doing business in the former Bricco space, according to Eater. At the helm is former Quinn’s, Oddfellows, and Five Corner Market chef Sam Crannell.

SOUTH LAKE UNION
Warren Peterson, sous chef at Brave Horse Tavern, returns from the Great American Beer Festival with a bronze medal for the tavern’s Brave American Brown Ale.

Bring non-perishable food items to any participating shops at 2200 Westlake between November 3 and 17, and receive an invitation to join chef John Howie of Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar in the plaza outside Seastar for a free bowl of soup on the 17th. Collected items will go to Food Lifeline.

WALLINGFORD
Wallyhood follows up on the abrupt closure of Bandolero, learning owner Jay Farias decided to sell the Mexican restaurant.

Also from Wallyhood: La Casa Azul has opened its new location on 45th St at Wallingford Avenue.
