From the Huskies Stadium to an historic fire: Here are clues 27 through 45.

Here is our third installment of the Canlis Clue Review, in which we look inside the scavenger hunt that has sent Seattleites careening all around town in the hopes of scoring a 1950 Canlis menu (find the menu, dine at the restaurant’s 1950 prices). The Canlis brothers—Brian and Mark—are the masterminds behind this epic marketing endeavor, they wait at the site of each hidden clue to congratulate the winners.

You can read about clues one through 26 here. And look out for our review of the final five clues, coming later this week .

Clue 27: A roar of purple overhead, come echos of elation, but to and fro blue shirts would go when Owens ran the nation.

The 27th menu was hidden above the old locker room tunnel—since filled in—inside Husky stadium.

An early hint to wear black for the evening hunt tipped menu seekers that the prize would be hidden in Husky Stadium, during the rare Thursday evening UW-UCLA game. Jim Owens was the UW coach from 1957-74. In the 1960s, the team wore blue uniforms, not today’s purple and gold. A good-natured UW stadium employee noted there was an error–the tunnel was actually filled in before Coach Owen’s time.
