Mai Tai Master: The Winning Mai Tai Recipe

Tavern Law’s cocktail combines four kinds of rum and tincture of grains of paradise. What, you thought this would be easy?

A hollowed-out lime filled with Lemon Hart garnishes Weber’s winning mai tai.

In a competition stocked with superior drink mixers, it takes a lot to be crowned Mai Tai Master. Here’s the liquid weapon that Nathan Weber, bar manager at Tavern Law, wielded at last night’s competition at Herbanfeast.

Mai Tai Tavern law

1oz DonQ Gold Puerto Rican Rum
.75oz Appleton 12 year Extra Jamaican Rum
.25oz Eldorado 15 year Demerara Rum
.5oz Orange Curacao
.75oz Lime Juice
.75oz Housemade orgeat*
.25oz Demerera Syrup
4 drops Grains of Paradise Tincture
Lemon Heart 151 Demerara Rum for garnish

Pour all ingredients over crushed ice. Garnish with a mint leaf and half of a hollowed-out lime filled with lemon heart 151 proof.
