Avila in Wallingford Closes

By way of a Tweet from Surly Gourmand comes the surprising news Avila in Wallingford has closed. The Facebook post pictured on the left confirms it.

When Seattle Met restaurant critic Kathryn Robinson visited the 45th Street kitchen in March, she sensed early on owners Jared and Bronwen Carpenter had some issues to sort out: It would be great to see Avila succeed. But after those three meals—moments of which were exemplary—it’s clear (that sound you hear is me strapping on my consultant’s hat) that Avila could use some tweaking. A few suggestions….

When we called the restaurant this morning no one answered, so check back for updates as to why the sudden closure.
