Volunteer Park Café Celebrates Its Third Anniversary

Yesterday our restaurant critic Kathryn Robinson labeled the 20 Buck Duck at Campagne “the deal of the century.” Here’s another special to rival that: In celebration of its third anniversary Volunteer Park Café is offering three-course dinners for $30. The deal starts January 12 and runs until the end of the month. Talk about a steal.
Here’s an idea of what to expect. Entrees include cafe beef brisket or wild boar bolognese (both with plenty of scrumptious sides, of course). For a salad choose between fennel blood oranges with frisée, herb vinaigrette, and candied pine nuts or roasted butternut squash with baby spinach, pancetta lardoons, toasted pumpkin seeds, and shaved grana; for dessert, molten chocolate cake with fresh whipped cream, or a fruit crisp topped with Molly Moon’s ice cream.
If you’re like me at all, you’ve been jonesing to nab a seat at one of their monthly multicourse wine dinners but just can’t swallow the hefty price tag. Here’s a chance to get in on that action, penny pinchers.
