The Dahlia Turns 20

The Dahlia Lounge opened 20 years ago this month. To celebrate, the joint will be giving away prizes each day. (Good ones! And pssst: You don’t have to do anything difficult to win!)
Those like me who were around for the opening remember how exciting it was. The brazen young toque Tom Douglas was fresh off his gig running the restaurant that made his name, the late, great Cafe Sport, and hopes for the bold red restaurant (originally across the street from the current location) ran high. Would he continue his Asian fusion? Yep. Would he better it? Yep. I remember my first bite of Douglas’s famous Triple Coconut Cream Pie—knowing it was good, not yet knowing it would go on to international renown.
The Dahlia is a restaurant worth celebrating—and Douglas is doing it by sharing the wealth. The first way to win is through Instant Redemption prizes. Simply be one of the first 20 diners every day at the Dahlia or any of its sister restaurants (Etta’s Seafood, Lola, Serious Pie, Palace Kitchen, or Dahlia Bakery) to say “Happy 20th Birthday, Dahlia Lounge!” and you’ll receive a freebie, from a slice of that Triple Coconut Cream Pie at Dahlia Bakery (today’s prize…so hurry!) to a bottle of Dahlia Lounge’s 20th Anniversary red wine (tomorrow’s prize).
Prizes are different every day of the week, and also include stuff like a free king crab appetizer or 50 percent of a night’s wine tab. Not too shabby.
Better still are the Golden Ticket Prizes, which will be drawn daily from raffle tickets available at each of the restaurants. Today’s Golden Ticket Prize? A February dinner for two at the Dahlia. Tomorrow’s? Catering at the winner’s house for 10 people.
You get the idea. Now get going!
