New Stuff to Do While Drinking

Cheese at ART, live entertainment at Campagne, Sorrento. Plus, Murray Stenson teaches a cocktail class.

Mark your calenders. Starting September 7th, ART Restaurant will be unveiling its —be still my cheese loving heart—all-you-can-eat cheese table, where for $12 guests can scarf up as much “domestic and imported” cheese as they want from happy hour until close.

Nearby in the market, Campagne is upping the HH ante by inviting the Casey McGill’s Blue4 Trio, whom you may have seen at The Pink Door (unless, like me, you are banned from the Pink Door for writing blog posts they don’t like), to play for the next six Wednesdays beginning on August 12th. Performances will take place in the courtyard of the Inn at the Market. HH goes from 5-7pm, the bar menu is 25% off and there are specials on beer, wine, and mixed drinks.

Finally, it’s good to see the Sorrento returning to more substantive approaches to drawing crowds. Here are two of my favorites:

The Fireside Room is going to host a series called “Fireside Chats,” in which the host of KUOW’s “The Conversation,” Ross Reynolds, will interview Seattle notables. The first chat, to be held on August 17th at 6pm (come early to secure HH prices), will be with Hanson Hosein, former NBC war correspondent and current prof at UW. Equally exciting, but less free, is the Hunt Club’s Drinking Lessons, where, for $50, a local bartender will teach you The Ways of The Drink during a two-hour mixology lesson. The first one takes place August 18th (bartender is Ryan Thomas Magarian). And guess who is teaching on the 24th? That’s right, Murray Stenson. For tickets write: [email protected]
