Kirkland’s Heathman Hotel has a new small-plate restaurant, Front Porch.
Heretofore it’s been the outdoor dining area of Trellis, downtown Kirkland’s most substantial culinary destination. Chef Brian Scheehser harvests much of the produce for the restaurant from a farm plot a few miles east, resulting in food that’s both creatively bracing and obsessively seasonal.
With Front Porch, they’re taking those concepts to small plates. Look for such wildness as crispy pig’s ear with arugula salad and Dijon, house-cured salmon with bitter greens on crostini, and snails Bourgogne with wild mushrooms and garlic.
All in a sidewalk-cafe ambiance, down to the potted foliage and live weekend music. Look for the Open sign every day of the week from 4pm, until October.
And yes, there are heat lamps.
