Word on the street is Ezell’s Famous Chicken is opening soon a new location on Lake City Way, making it the sixth branch of the local fried food chain. That’s some finger-licking, greasy good news for all you Northgaters. Too bad nobody seems to know when it will actually happen.

That’s not to say we didn’t try to nail down a date. We did our duties. We called around. We chatted with various Ezell’s employees in various Ezell’s locations.

Here’s what we, er, sorta found out:

From the Woodinville branch: “What? Lake City? Yeah, I don’t know.” Not the answer we were expecting, but only the first phone call. Onward!

From 23rd and E Jefferson: “Hmmm, soon? Maybe this weekend?” Note the questioning tone.

From Skyway: “Our new location? I would ask Ezell; he should know.”

From Lynnwood: “OK, so I think they’re planning on opening on Saturday. Yeah Saturday, because I think they’re waiting on an inspection of some sort to go through.”

From Renton: “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

From the main office: “Uh, wow, I don’t know. Probably sometime next month.” Shoot. Back to square one.
