I just read a Tan Vinh article in the Seattle Times reporting that Daniel Shoemaker—master molecular mixologist and co-owner of Portland’s Teardrop Lounge, where he serves up 200-300 distinct specialty cocktails and stocks a dozen homemade bitters—will be subbing behind the bar at Vessel next Monday through Wednesday (April 20-22). The article mentions Shoemaker’s smoked cherrywood ice, which I’m hoping we’ll have the opportunity to try while he is in town—flavored ices are some of the most exciting things in cocktails right now.
