THE LATEST ENTRY in the apparent campaign to plant a wine bar on every Seattle block is this quiet stunner in Hotel 1000. It’s across the lobby from BOKA, whose bold visual gestures (like the shifting colors illuminating the back bar) shout its design statements. Studio 1000 , by contrast, murmurs them: black onyx, chocolate leather, sleek nooks, and pillowed benches, and a central fire pit of steel and concrete that makes true companions of contemporary and snug. Call it “business intimate”—as right for a strategy session as for a tryst—and if the small plates (from BOKA’s kitchen) of pear-and-blue-cheese bruschetta and sugar-cane-skewered crab cakes and short rib sliders do not present the most compelling reason to visit, the well-chosen wine flights and uncommonly engaging urban surroundings do—and then some. Open 4–8pm weeknights; till midnight weekends.
