In 2015, it's Amy Schumer's world and we're all just living in it. Not only has her Comedy Central sketch show Inside Amy Schumer ascended to the level of cultural hit with its fiercely feminist hilarity, but she's getting ready to make her first star turn in a feature film with Trainwreck. Schumer plays a reporter who's somewhat of a drunken mess and doesn't believe in monogamy (a persona Schumer's been perfecting on her show and standup stages for years). Things change when she's assigned to do a story on a sports surgeon (Bill Hader) and begins to fall for him. Directed by Judd Apatow, Trainwreck is the best bet to be the breakout comedy of the summer, which would elevate Schumer's stardom to an even higher level.
To build excitement prior to Trainwreck's July 17 release, Schumer and Apatow are hitting the road with a stacked lineup featuring some of the film's other hilarious talent: Mike Birbiglia, Dave Attell, Vanessa Bayer, and Colin Quinn. That's four standup headliners, the most influential comedy director and producer of our times, and one of Saturday Night Live's best cast members on one bill. (Unfortunately, LeBron James and John Cena—who also have parts in the film—will not be attending and doing standup sets.) The tour heads to the Moore Theatre on June 20, and (without a doubt) it's going to be the comedy event of the summer.
Tickets for the Trainwreck Comedy Tour go on sale this Friday, May 15, at 9am via stgpresents.org. There are two ticket prices: $45 and $100. (UPDATE 5/15: It appears they've switched to only $100 tickets.) Proceeds from the tickets go toward Hilarity for Charity, which benefits the Alzheimer’s Association.
