‘The Killing’ Episode 8: Linden and Pastor Mike’s Mild Ride

We didn’t get any closer to finding the killer last night, but it may be time to start looking at suspects inside the investigation.

By James Ross Gardner July 15, 2013

Where did you get this map, Lieutenant? I don't see Elliott Bay Penitentiary anywhere.

Quote of the night: "I thought I lost you there for a second, just when I was getting used to you." —Detective Stephen Holder to Detective Sarah Linden, after she narrowly survived being kidnapped by Pastor Mike

Least realistic Seattle thing: Linden gets a pre-paid call from death row, which the operator calls "Elliott Bay Penitentiary." Also: Pastor Mike and Linden end their weird, kidnappy night at "Biltmore Pier."

Current suspect: So it was Pastor Mike holding Linden at knifepoint at the end of last week's episode. And he ended up being almost as dangerous as Holder suspected—keeping Linden hostage for half the episode. But he is, alas, not the killer. With just five episodes left in the season, I think we can expect the true perp to surface soon. You do have to wonder where death row guard Frances Becker keeps disappearing to. Is he our man? Or is it someone inside the investigation? In Bullet's frantic call to Holder she said she knows who the killer is, and something in her voice suggested it’s someone Holder knows. Should we be looking more closely at Lieutenant Skinner?

The Killing airs Sundays at 9 on AMC.
