The last time I saw Brooklyn soul band Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings was about five years ago in New York City, when they were opening for Medeski Martin and Wood. It was also a Halloween concert, so I was dap dippin’ while dressed as "SuperGrad," a grad student superhero who wears tights and a cape, doesn’t shower, and fights enemies with coffee breath and paper cuts. But that’s besides the point. I thought the ticket agency had it backwards: How could Sharon Jones be opening for anybody? Just watch the YouTube video and you’ll see what I mean.

Neumos announced today that SJ&TDK will bring the funk to Showbox SoDo on Monday, June 21. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am at Ticketmaster.com. Who cares that this show is four months away? Missing it is not an option.
