Opt for multipurpose spaces, like this media room, where doors can slide open when entertaining. “We often tuck additional ottomans under a sofa console,” the designer says. “They are great for overflow seating during larger gatherings in a smaller space.”
LIGHTING LOWDOWN
“Use opaque shades,” designer Nancy Burfiend says. “The shades keep the light source from reflecting in windows at night, which disrupts the view.”
