Community leaders gathered to celebrate the recent $10 million gift from Cambia Health Foundation to UW Medicine for the Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence. The Foundation makes investments that advance patient- and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life by anticipating, preventing and treating suffering. The Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence, led by Dr. Randy Curtis, has quickly become a national role model for best practices in palliative care education, measurement and implementation. This effort by the Foundation and UW Medicine will ensure that palliative care has an integral and prominent role in healthcare - regionally, nationally and internationally - for seriously ill patients and their families.
