An estimated 10,000 guests came out for the hugely successful 9th annual South Lake Union Block Party. Proceeds, which totaled more than $23,000, will help build the new Wagner Education Center in Lake Union Park for The Center for Wooden Boats. Competition at the "Best Burger in SLU" Grilling Competition was fierce but luckily had George Motz of Travel Channel's Burger Land to lend a hand and emcee the event. Brave Horse Tavern won the judges’ choice with the “3 Alarm Queso Burger” while Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar won the people’s choice with the “Washington Beef Slider with Chanterelles, Ossau-Iraty Sheep Cheese, and Truffle.”
