For Lindsay Moen, her passion for designing swimwear came from her days as an NFL cheerleader. Her label Dollstreet combines fun patterns with functionality. Expect to see pops of color and unique cutouts from one of a kind swimwear at the Independent Designer Runway Show on September 22.
What inspires your designs?
I find my inspiration through traveling, music, past decades, and being in my studio!
Who would you like to dress and why?
Past decades I would love to dress Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot. Current day I would love to dress Jennifer Anniston, Beyoncé, and Gigi Hadid.
How would you describe your label?
Dollstreet is perfect mix of playful, glamour, edgy and bold. Every design is made to suit each client’s story, spirit, and adventure.
Where is your studio and how does that environment help your design process?
My studio is located in my home. This environment gives me tons of inspiration during the design process. It is full of artwork and photos that inspire me!
What hobbies do you have outside of work?
Some of my hobbies include camping, photography, vintage shopping, traveling the world, going on adventures with my husband and our Pomeranian, Foxxy.
How long have you been a designer and what moment did you realize this is what you were meant to do?
I have been a fashion designer for the past 3 years. I'm a former Seahawks Cheerleader and was lucky enough to be selected as the Pro Bowl Cheerleader in 2012. It was there that I realized I needed to pursue my dream to become a fashion designer. Each cheerleader from every team has a chance to stand up and talk about what they do for a living. I mentioned my dream was to become a swimsuit designer and design for professions teams...our director replied with a statement that set a fire in my soul! I look back at this moment as the turning point to my life and I'm forever thankful for it.
