Name and occupation:
Alaina Caldwell: IT Trainer and Reviewer (mostly food) for Hella Black Hella Seattle.
Motto to live by.
My current motto for 2016 is "Why not me?" I truly feel that I can accomplish anything as long as I want to.
Describe your style.
Casual street chic. I like to float the line between notions of masculinity and femininity but I always try to throw in a bit of elegance as well.
Who is your favorite designer or style icon?
I don't really have a favorite designer, I tend to not really buy name brand things. But as far as favorite style icon I would, without a doubt, say Solange Knowles! She always looks like she's having fun with fashion. She's always elegant, often taking risks, and dreamy as well as whimsical. She's a true inspiration to me, and she speaks her mind, which is dead on my style too. We're basically best friends. Oh and also Rihanna, but that's a given!
What are your favorite shops, places to people watch, and get inspiration in Seattle?
A lot of my favorite pieces are from various thrift shops. I haven't had the patience to thrift in awhile but hopefully I can get back into that soon.
Cal Anderson park has great people watching, I often go there with Jasmine and hang with her and her son.
I get most of my inspiration from just being out in Seattle on hot days. I'm really into being partially naked most of the time and the heat allows for that. I like seeing how people put together outfits to accommodate the weather, but still add elements of style so they aren't just leaving the house in a tank top and shorts.
