If you’ve been to the Downtown Nordstrom this year, you may have noticed a few things. Namely partitioned-off departments, the roar of construction equipment, and just where is the wedding suite now? The flagship is in the midst of a massive remodel and is happy to report that it has hit the halfway point with the completion of the third and fourth floors.
We’ll have to wait another year to see what’s in store (get it?) for beauty, shoes, men’s, and more on the lower levels. But here’s what you’ll find at the top of the escalators now.
A big idea behind the face-lift is to open up the store to create a single-surface, flexible space. It makes for more seamless flow from this accessories display to, say, neighboring outerwear and should help facilitate a more cohesive shopping experience.
Modular displays in housewares allow the store to shift and change as the department—and customer tastes—evolve.
Same airy feel in the updated Nordstrom Cafe. But our favorite new feature...
...the Habitant Bar. We have to admit a pang of jealousy when Bellevue got its own version a few years ago. Now downtown has its own watering hole to fuel impulse purchases and leave your weary spouse. This is also a great example of Nordstrom opening up to the outside world, as they’ve begun to uncover windows to let in more natural light.
Go grab a drink and see it all for yourself, then check back next year for the full reveal.
