Wouldn't it be nice if all your wedding guests were already old friends?

That's the goal of New York–based Guesterly, a one-of-a-kind service that creates a yearbook-style magazine featuring all of your attendees. Billed as the ultimate icebreaker, it's a way to ensure that your hot single friend meets your betrothed's college roommate and your world-traveling aunt chats up your beloved's trip-planning boss.

The brand informally launched when founders Rachel and Lorne Hofstetter (she works in the magazine business, he's an engineer) were planning their 2012 wedding. The couple grew up on opposite sides of the country, and when it came to organizing their nuptials they wanted to make it easy on guests meeting for the first time. Their mag was a huge success with attendees, and after fielding similar requests from friends, the couple realized they had enough interest to launch a full-blown enterprise.

How it works:
Couples to-be submit their guest list to a team of Guesterly editors who then interview attendees and write up brief bios. The company complies photos of your guests, works with your wedding colors and theme, and finally sends out a glossy, professional quality magazine to everyone on the list a few weeks before the wedding.

Prices start at $3,500 for a guest list of 100, or $10 per book should couples choose to write all the bios themselves.

Sure, being at a reception with a bunch of people you don't know can be awkward, but isn't it also an opportunity to hone your conversation skills? In a world of Google and Facebook, it's seems more rare to not know something about someone before meeting them. Or does skipping the initial formalities allow you to make faster friends?
