Shop Talk: Your personal geography, please. Where were you born and raised, and where are you currently living?
O'Regan:I was born and raised in Minneapolis and currently live on Capitol Hill.
Your personal style in three words:
Tomboyish, vintage, and rock 'n' roll.
Assuming your blog doesn’t pay the bills, what do you do in order to pay the wireless bill and buy new clothes?
I'm a senior features writer for Nordstrom, which means I create all sorts of editorial content for the site, from designer interviews to trend guides.
Your blogging timeline: Is this your first? What, if anything, came before?
I've been blogging since 2003. My first blog was on LiveJournal, chronicling college and my early twenties, then I created a blog to document my European travels, and now I'm blogging on my personal site, artofwore.com, and blogs.nordstrom.com.
What was the voice inside your head saying as you were first imagining this blog?
I have to fully commit myself to this, because there's nothing worse than a blog that hasn't been updated in six months.
What’s the hardest thing in terms of blogging about style in Seattle?
Seattleites are notoriously camera-shy; it takes a bit of trickery to get them to relax for a photo. We also don't have a ton of style-related events around town, so there aren't as many opportunities to get a big fashion crowd together.
What’s the best thing in terms of blogging about style in Seattle?
Seattleites who love fashion really LOVE fashion. They're impressively cutting-edge and innovative, taking risks, starting businesses, and organizing events. It's not just a casual hobby; it's a way of life.
One blog that no one knows about that everyone should read:
I've been loving Purse 'n Boots, a fashion blog by LA stylist Ashley Glorioso featuring her latest photo shoots. She's got a super young, wild and free aesthetic that makes me feel like taking a summery road trip.
What do you want to do more of on your blog? What’s keeping you from doing it?
I want to document more parties and random days in my life and get more personal with my readers. Unfortunately, I rarely feel like lugging my heavy camera around everywhere. That's my biggest roadblock.
What would you like to see more of in Seattle in terms of style?
I'd love to see people take more risks with their wardrobe and try out trends sooner. I think many people notice new trends right away, but it takes them a year or so to work up the courage to try them out.
