Store Closing: Liave

Owner Cornelia Veit to shutter her brick-and-mortar store in June and go online only.

Liave, purveyor of beautiful European homewares, is shuttering its West Edge store in June. Ever-gracious owner Cornelia Veit says the decision was two-fold: Her lease was up, and the majority of her business is conducted online.

There's still good news for us local shoppers, though. All items in store are on sale. And, while Veit plans to move back to California, she'll continue selling her curated collection of Danish candles, European ceramics, and elegant glasswork online.

Liave joins a handful of home design stores that have vacated Western in recent years, including Inform Interiors (now located in South Lake Union) and Couch (now in Ballard). Veit says that construction in the area has deterred shoppers, and with the upcoming tunnel project, retailers fear it's only going to get worse.

So we want to know, would the last retailer leaving Western please turn out the lights?
