His-and-hers trunk shows at Butch Blum make all kinds of sense. I seem to always see couples shopping the intimate, highly attuned mens and womenswear designer collections when I'm there. It's natural, of course, given that the shop's owners are a pair themselves, but the cozy upstairs/downstairs arrangement just really makes for a nice mix of leave-me-to-my-browsing and hey-honey-come-look-at-this.

On Wednesday, April 17 from noon to 6 and Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20 from 10 to 6, the store is hosting Olvi's for the gals, and Agave Denim for the guys. (And on Friday, April 19, they're doing Casual Friday Happy Hour from 4:30 to 6. Now, while I've gone on record against Casual Friday, Butch Blum himself has gone on record pledging to prove the week's end doesn't have to be dreary just because it's unbuttoned and unplugged. Same team; different strategies.)

As far as what's on view: Olvi's is a Netherlands-made BB exclusive in these parts; their stretchy French lace dresses, skirts, pants, tops, and jackets get dressed up, down, and way up—like, wedding day up.
