Curtis Steiner’s New Ballard Shop

Curtis Steiner resurfaces.

SOME PEOPLE ENTERED the Ballard boutique looking for Space Needle shot glasses. They were confused by the name: Souvenir. When the decade-old jewelry and objets d’art apothecary succumbed to urban renewal, owner Curtis Steiner treated it as a death. “Out of respect I started over with a new name,” says the shopkeeper of his eponymous new store. The rest—bracelets artfully arranged on glass relics; artist-made mise-en-scenes; serious studies of quotidian found items—remains blissfully the same.
