Save the Date: Glitter On

Seattle Goodwill’s annual gold-digger sale scheduled November 13 & 14.

Racks organized by color make it easier to navigate the shoe department, but the Goodwill’s yearly Glittler Sale is not for those new to hunting and gathering

Where: Seattle Goodwill on Dearborn Street

What: If you know anything about the fine art of scouring thrift stores for vintage finery and tossed-away designer goods, you know it’s hit and miss. You win some, you lose some more. But Seattle Goodwill’s annual two-day sale-a-thon is different.

All year long, Goodwill employees take the really, really good stuff and set it behind a locked door (one assumes) labeled, "We can’t believe they gave this away, either." Then, just before of the Glitter Sale begins, buckets of great jewelry, racks of gently used contemporary and vintage fashion including evening wear for men and women, and loads of other really worthwhile stuff gets shuffled out into the store. The folks at Goodwill have been doing this for 27 years now. They’re good at it.

They want you to be good at it, too so they’ve assembled some tips:

-Wear a slip, body suit or swimsuit to easily try on clothing; dressing rooms will not be available.
-When you arrive in the special sales area, grab a tote bag to carry your purchases.
-To ensure the best customer service, you will be given a number for assistance at the jewelry counter. Please arrive early for the best selection.
-Help us by rehanging clothes you will not purchase.
-This is a crowded event, so be conscious of the comfort and safety of others; please do not run in the store.

Proceeds from the sale benefit the organization’s on-going job-training and education programs.

When: Saturday and Sunday November 13 & 14 from 9 to 6
