Tell Your Boss I Said You Could
The summer sale at Betty Lin starts tomorrow, Thursday June 4; shoes and select accessories are going for far, far less than their original retail prices.
I stopped by today to check out the shoes and get the scoop. First off, you should know that there’s a small and neatly ordered mountain of Louboutin espadrilles that will go for $50 each. That’s them over there to the left.
Next, click on the slideshow to see a great pair of Miu Miu heels that riff on the clog thing, some really sweet Nina Ricci flats that seem to be politely requesting some high-waisted, sailor-styled short shorts, and a pair of white-white Ann Demeulemeester creations that make me really wish I could be graceful on top of a very thin three-inch platform.
Because I was having a hard time staying on task (I mean, c’mon – you’ve been to Betty Lin, right?) there’s also a snap of a wonderful shape-free Margiela dress in navy with a Kodachrome sunburst that I’d like to throw in a canvas tote and head to, oh, I don’t know, Vancouver, Vera Cruz, Stanwood—anywhere—with. Oh, and then a similarly sac-shaped hand-numbered shift by Jesse Kamm that I’d like to take home and introduce to my hammock.
Okay… back on task … the sale! Select accessories are 1/3 off, and the shoes, a whole river of them lined up underneath color-blocked Marni dresses and gorgeously goth Junya Watanabe pieces, will all be priced at $50, $100, or $150.
So: Leave work early, hit the sale, then stay in the ‘hood for First Thursday. Oh, and squeeze in a stop at Far 4 where they’ll be serving wine and Theo Chocolates and indulging in group-oogling over and around some Charlie Krafft pieces.
You’ve seen his stuff right? He’s the local porcelain artist who brilliantly reimagines Delft and Spode designs and generally mashes up culture like he’s some kind of Dutch master who got beamed outta the ceramics scene and into the war zone in some sort of sci-fi/arthaus short film. Or something like that.
Just go. And if you can’t make it on Thursday, rest easy in the knowledge that the Betty Lin sale will be going strong through the end of the month.
