Visit Bellingham

Savor Farm to Fork.

Presented by 2024 Fall Best Escapes Special Section August 22, 2024

From interactive farm tours to restaurants that highlight local ingredients, Bellingham and Whatcom County are bursting with delectable farm to fork experiences.

Start by getting a free Farm to Table Trails passport that directs you to delicious agricultural experiences throughout Whatcom County. On the pass you’ll find local growers and makers like Bellewood Farms & Distillery and Twin Sisters Creamery. Visit locations to earn points and win a prize!

If you’d rather experience Whatcom County’s farm scene on two wheels, book a guided bike tour with Bike Northwest. They offer half-day trips to farms across the county, including a trip on peaceful Lummi Island. All trips go at a mellow pace and include plenty of snack breaks.

Farm to Fork doesn’t stop at the shore. Bellingham and Whatcom County are home to incredible salmon, oysters, crab, and more. SeaFeast, an annual celebration on the Bellingham Waterfront in October, celebrates the bounty of our waters and our rich maritime culture with educational events, cooking demos, and plenty of seafood.

Take home our foodie culture at one of our many markets. The Bellingham Farmers Market operates downtown throughout the year, offering goods from local farmers and artisans. Dockside Market is the seafood equivalent, letting fishermen sell their catches directly to the public year-round. Visitors can also shop seasonal farmers markets in Bellingham’s Barkley neighborhood, at the Rome Grange, and in Lynden, Blaine, and on Lummi Island.

Finally, make it a true farm to fork vacation by staying at Oostema Farmstead, a working Wagyu cattle farmstead situated on 117 serene acres.
