The Face of Wine Tasting

All any plant needs to grow is hospitable earth, water and sunlight, and grapevines are no different. That’s exactly what Craig and Vicki Leuthold saw when they established Maryhill Winery, on a unique slice of Washington terroir just up and across the river from The Dalles. In the two decades plus since, Maryhill has certainly flourished, expanding with tasting rooms in Goldendale, Spokane, Vancouver and Woodinville’s historic Hollywood Schoolhouse.
As their tagline says Maryhill Winery showcases the rich and diverse flavors of Washington State wine with passion, patience and balance. “We founded Maryhill in 1999 when there were only 125 wineries in Washington now there are over 1000,” says owner Craig Leuthold. “Our timing was great; Washington wine continues to really increase in popularity.”
While most of the destination winery’s locations are a road trip for many in the Seattle area, its Woodinville tasting room, located in Woodinville's historic Hollywood Schoolhouse, is the ideal place to explore the more than 35 different varietals and 65 distinct bottlings that Maryhill offers. Sample and sip from both inside the lovingly restored building and outside among the beautiful gardens and outdoor balconies. The full kitchen’s Pacific Northwest-inspired cuisine can satisfy your appetite too.
Maryhill makes enjoying acclaimed wine memorable and accessible. “Our standard flight is seven wines for a tasting fee of $20.00, which is refundable with a $30.00 purchase,” explains Leuthold. “We have club rooms as well, where Premium Wine Club members have access to exclusive wines and older vintages.”
