The beach at Siletz Bay

Imagine waking up to the sights and sounds of nature knowing you’ll be filling your day with outdoor adventures. Make it a reality with a stay at one of Oregon’s favorite coastal spots, the Salishan Coastal Lodge, just a short drive from Seattle.  Whether you want challenging, heart-pumping adventures or gentler, serene outings to help you unwind and recharge, you’ll find the opportunity to experience them all at Salishan. And good news for guests whose beloved pooches love outdoor adventures as much as they do: Salishan is pet friendly.

At Salishan, its nearly 200-acre backyard includes trees, forest, and the beach, so it can be hard to decide where to begin your adventure. Do you head to the beach to swim, or stroll along the golden sands looking for found treasures, such as agates or glass floats (while watching out for whales, seals, and puffins)? Perhaps the beautiful trails and forests rich with plant life, including carpets of wildflowers, beckon you for a restorative walk or more strenuous hike. Challenge yourself with 18 holes of golf. Or would you prefer riding one of our complimentary bikes around the property or testing your mountain bike skills on our new pump track? How about kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding along the coast’s scenic rivers, lakes, and waterways?

If you want a real adrenaline rush, one that comes from soaring high above the forest canopy, you can get that at Salishan’s Aerial Adventure Park. Guests can test their nerves and skills—and decide how daring (or not) they want to be—tackling a series of obstacles along the course’s 15 aerial platforms and 21 elements. The more adventurous can sway across the 100-foot suspension bridge; swing across four half-barrels using a rope; climb up a coastal spruce using a vertical ladder to a crow’s nest platform 70 feet high, with a spectacular view of the Siletz Bay; clamber through a cargo net crossing; and balance their way precariously along a tightrope.

Whatever adventure is on your wish list, our team members are happy to help guests plan their days and rent equipment nearby. Standout hikes we recommend include Drift Creek Falls, with a drop down into a wooded canyon, a 240-foot suspension bridge to cross—and breathtaking views of the waterfall. Or try the trail that starts at Roads End State Recreation Site and goes along the Thumb, a headland with an incredible view.

Some of the best places to paddleboard and kayak nearby include the Salmon River estuary at Cascade Head, Siletz Bay at Gleneden Beach, Devil’s Lake in Lincoln City (there’s also a 9-mile walking and biking trail around the lake), and the Little Nestucca River and Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Guests can stay nourished throughout the day with the healthy, fresh, and locally sourced food offered at Salishan. They can grab a to-go breakfast at the Provisions market or enjoy lunch or dinner at the Attic Bar & Grill. There’s seating inside and outside the restaurant, with tables six feet apart in keeping with current best practices, and plenty of spaces around the property to eat meals picnic-style.

As enjoyable as a day of adventure is, nothing beats returning to Salishan’s welcoming, woodsy lodge, which captures the pioneering spirit and rugged style of the Pacific Northwest. Whether guests want a simple but spacious room with a private balcony and crackling wood fireplace, or a signature suite with an en-suite hot tub for two, Salishan’s rooms offer spectacular views and amenities to help guests relax, rest, and unwind.

Guests can rest assured that Salishan has introduced new health, safety, and cleanliness protocols throughout the property so they can relax during their stay knowing we’re doing everything we can to protect them. Guests can read about Salishan’s extensive health and safety measures at the Covid-19 page on our website.
