Reichert Speaks Out Against Stimulus Bill
Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA, 8) derided the Obama stimulus plan on the floor of the House of Representatives yesterday, bemoaning the "shotgun spending" he says the bill forces on Congress. Reichert, who is also a newbie on the House Ways and Means Committee, shares concern with several other House Republicans that the bill is being rushed through Congress with inadequate time for discussion. "We cannot let calls for swift actions overrun common sense, thorough consideration, and healthy debate," he said. Here's the video:
Reichert and most of the Republicans in Congress voted against considering the bill for a vote later today. A solid Democratic block carried the vote and the stimulus bill is slated to be voted on later this evening.
