Seattle Met won four prizes at last week’s City Regional Magazine Association awards in Baltimore, including General Excellence within its circulation size. Judges described the magazine as featuring “well-crafted copy that grabs readers and holds on tight; editor letters so good you actually read them; attitude-forward photographs; fresh, consistent design; humor sprinkled everywhere.”
In addition to General Excellence, Seattle Met won prizes for Cover Excellence, Excellence in Design for its Spring 2022 issue (which judges said “proves fun and sophistication can not only live harmoniously in a design system but thrive”), and in the Leisure/Lifestyle Interests category for its feature “Washington’s 60 Most Timeless Inventions.” The awards cover work published in 2022.
Seattle Met was also a finalist in the Feature Story and Magazine Section categories.
"Seattle Met is lucky to have some of the most talented, hard-working, gracious individuals in the business,” says former editor in chief Angela Cabotaje, who helmed the magazine during its prize-winning year, and now oversees editorial for its parent company, SagaCity Media. “These awards simply validate that. Congratulations to the entire team. And thank you to this amazing city and region we have the privilege to cover.”
The CRMA awards are judged by a panel of more than 100 media professionals from across the country at publications ranging from The Atlantic to National Geographic, Food and Wine to Teen Vogue, as well as faculty from the University of Missouri’s journalism school.
