Jim Dwyer: Protecting Internet Privacy

We don't need a massive leak of private celebrity photos to remind us that digital information is subject to breaches of privacy. Concern over privacy grows the more we rely on cloud computing to store our personal information.

In his book More Awesome Than Money, Pulitzer Prize winning author Jim Dwyer explores the rise and fall of a tech startup's effort to protect personal information from Facebook. Come to Town Hall to hear Dwyer weigh in on the future of internet privacy and the realities of commercial surveillance.

Jim Dwyer: Protecting Internet Privacy, Mon, Oct 27, 7:30–8:45pm, Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave, $5

Rick Steves: Israelis and Palestinians Today

The Israel/Palestine conflict is complex, to say the very least. Travel writer Rick Steves has made a career out of taking the complex (What's St. Petersburg public transit like? How do I order a nonfat latte in Portuguese?) and making them accessible.

Get the Steves rundown of his experience in the West Bank region, accompanied by photographs and an inside look at his latest documentary Holy Land.

Rick Steves: Israelis and Palestinians Today, Sun, Oct 28, 7:30–8:45pm, Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave, $5
